Can you tell me more about the Medicare rebates?

We recommend speaking with your GP about your child's eligibility for the following Medicare-funded plans:

  • Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan
Provides up to 5 rebated allied health therapy sessions per calendar year, which can be renewed annually. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children may be eligible for up to 10 rebated sessions. The Medicare rebate is approximately $60 per session.

  • Medicare Item 10970 (M10) Plan
Provides up to 20 lifetime therapy sessions and 4 lifetime assessment sessions with a Speech Pathologist. The Medicare rebate is approximately $90 per session.

  • Helping Children with Autism Plan
If you are seeking an autism assessment for your child, Medicare may provide rebates for eligible assessments completed by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. If your child receives an autism diagnosis, they may also be eligible for rebated therapy sessions while awaiting access to NDIS supports, where applicable.
